Marlin Central and VideoProtein Partner to Provide Standardized Video Solution

posted: 02-23-2006

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Marlin Central Monitoring and VideoProtein have teamed up to provide a standardized video solution that will deliver remote access to video systems through a single interface, allowing dealers to generate additional recurring revenues by offering multiple new video services to their customers.

Using VideoProtein’s unique open-architecture, hardware-independent pure IP platform, Marlin’s operators work from within the central station automation software they are familiar with, rather than having to use multiple platforms, interfaces or even independent workstations. End users can also access their video systems through a secure web interface.

Monitoring video is just the beginning. Thanks to the combined partnership, dealers can now offer end users expanded features for their cameras and DVRs that go well beyond their original capabilities. The VideoProtein software is also easily scalable and expandable for emerging technologies today and in the future.

“VideoProtein allows us to standardize video alarms, verification and guard tours on one monitoring platform without dictating to dealers what DVR or camera equipment to use,” said Barry Brannon, Marlin’s vice president of business development. “This is the perfect solution for any size business as well as retrofit applications. It allows our dealers to go back and offer these economical new services to their customers and create new revenue streams. We’ve actually been able to bring on more dealers as a result of this relationship.”

VideoProtein chose Marlin as the first central station it will work with based on Marlin’s proven dedication to video monitoring technology and services.

“We’re pleased and happy to have this relationship with a forward-thinking company like Marlin Central Monitoring,” said Anthony Pugliese IV, VideoProtein’s President. “We talked to over 100 central stations, and were amazed that less than 5 percent indicated an interest in video validation. On the other hand, Marlin has been at this for more than four years, so they obviously understand that video is the future of monitoring.”

For more than two years, Marlin, which was acquired in June 2005 by Security Networks LLC, had sought a single video monitoring solution that would encompass different video products from various manufacturers. The company discovered VideoProtein after researching the marketplace extensively.

“Until now, video has never been truly integrated in central stations. VideoProtein allows us to offer video monitoring services to all customers, regardless of who manufactured their equipment,” Brannon added. “In the four years that we’ve offered video monitoring, we’ve had to add platforms to accommodate additional manufacturers’ equipment. VideoProtein’s standardization makes it highly desirable for Marlin, our dealers and integrators that have added monitoring to their menu of services.”

The two companies will be teaming up on a series of traveling seminars in the near future. At the upcoming EHX Expo in Orlando March 30th - April 1st and at the ISC West Show in Las Vegas April 5th-7th, Marlin will be in the VideoProtein booth and will also have a suite for meetings and presentations on these new services and opportunities for added revenues.
